Seeing AI is a Microsoft research project that brings together the power of the cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) to deliver an intelligent application (app), designed to help people who are blind or visually impaired navigate their day. It turns the visual world into an audible experience. With this intelligent camera app, a user just holds up their SMART phone to hear information about the world around them. They can recognize friends and their facial expressions and locate the faces of people they’re with, as well as facial characteristics, approximate age, emotion, and more. They can read text quickly, hear short snippets of text instantly, and get audio guidance to capture full documents. They can download the app on their cell phone on the App Store on their phone.
